Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for couples who have previously attended the Art and Science of Love Workshops or have a significant working knowledge of the model from the video/dvd presentations.

Couples who are familiar with these materials and want a more in depth experience are invited to attend.

The Workshop Program

The refresher workshops are based on the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman that have been presented in the Art and Science of Love workshops, through written material in their books and the audio, video and their dvd's.

Through a combination of informative presentations, new interactive exercises and entertaining role plays plus some multi-media presentations, attendees work privately with new focus and perceptions designed to address the challenges in your relationship.

You will have opportunities to ask questions and work with experienced certified Gottman Therapists throughout the day.

We are currently offering two workshops:
May 1 - 2 and November 6 - 7, 2010

Each workshop includes a full review of the Sound Relationship House, opportunities to develop additional skills in effective problem solving including effective repair and compromise.

In addition, presentations and exercises have been developed to further enhance the development of relationship aspirations.

The workshop also provides an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the dreams behind the conflicts.

There is significant time allotted for skill building and practice of successful conflict processing including a clear outline on how to accomplish effective results after the workshop.

There are additional opportunities to explore physical and emotional intimacy including designing an active plan for when couples return home.

The nature of this workshop is psycho-educational and all information gathered during the registration process or otherwise is confidential.

There is no group work or public disclosure other than the voluntary questions that participants ask during the workshop.

What You Will Learn

• How to more effectively manage conflict
• How to foster greater intimacy
• Enhanced understanding of repair and its significant relationship to effective communication
• Reinforce the skills learned through the initial workshop or other Gottman approved materials

Quotes

From previous workshops, participants said::

"We have come closer together by dealing with lingering issues and learning better how to deal with perpetual and new issues which arise.  This refresher keeps us on track."

"This workshop gave us the opportunity to talk about potentially "volatile" issues in a "safe", structured way."

Everything we have done here has increased our awareness and given us the tools to help us achieve continued growth, understanding and success.

"I liked everything about this workshop: Presentation was fluid; Organization was clear and logical; Pacing was comfortable; Presenters were warm, authentic, and personal."

"We took the time to talk about our relationship with each other and listen to each other. We had stopped following the techniques/exercises we learned at the 2-day workshop. This workshop was a great reminder of what we learned and a "kick in the pants" to get us working on strengthening our relationship."

"We recently completed the 2-day workshop that started our process towards a better relationship. This course reinforced what we learned and expanded our knowledge base."

"The Gottman Method is a tool that we use to stay happy and keep ourselves together. It takes a lot of work, but I think there are places that a relationship can go that can only be attained with further knowledge and new techniques."
